The Last Days of Summer...

Okay, so summer just started a few days ago but with the baby coming in just 5 weeks we really had to rearrange our summer fun schedule around a tad. Mylani who normally celebrates her birthday the whole month of July with road trips and amusement parks had to celebrate a little earlier this year (no complaint from her of course). So we started off this past weekend with a early birthday "park-venutre": ball park, amusement park, and live animal park.

Friday Night: Driller's Baseball Game. Supporting the local AA team. Smaller stadium then Anaheim, no rally monkey, but the tickets were free, the Driller's won, and we all had a good time...so no complaints here.

Saturday: Frontier City in Oklahoma City (similar to Knott's Berry Farm). Saturday was Military appreciation day at the park so we thought we'd do the 1 1/2 hour drive into OK City and check it out. Mylani is finally tall enough to take on the "big kid" rides so she definitely made the most of her time on the roller coasters. Will joined on the rides that allowed his long legs to squeeze in and for myself, soaked in lots of sun, got to go on 2 "prego approved rides", and walked way too much resulting to swollen cankles at the end of the day.

Monday: Tulsa Zoo and Live Museum. We've heard a lot about the Tulsa Zoo since we moved here and thought we'd finally check it out. The zoo has a very nice layout and it truly felt like we were walking through a large park with animal exhibits scattered here and there. We made it through about 2.5 hours of walking before Mylani and I called "uncle" from the heat, hunger, and tired feet.

Not a park, but we're soooooo happy to report we finally found a Mexican food joint that is of our likings. For the last 6 months, we've been searching for the Tijuana style carne asada burritos and California burritos (they call them Arizona burritos in Tulsa...who figures???) that we've come to love during our college years in San Diego with no luck (there were a few in OC but very inconsistent). Until last week when we found one of the "berto" family...Riobertos! It was sooooo delicious and just what our taste buds have been waiting for.

And finally, had to chill out with Bear at the end of a fun and busy weekend.
